Alva is now entering her second year at PlaygroundSquad as a Game Artist student. We took the opportunity to talk with her about her first year at the school!

How would you describe your first year at PSQ?

– My first year at PSQ has been really good!

Before the education, I mainly had experience with traditional and digital art, so at the beginning everything felt quite new, but learning all the programs and tools has not been a big problem. It has actually been really fun to look back and see how much I have developed this past year! I have also met many great friends who put in their utmost and, at the same time, feel at home at the school🌷

What has been the most enjoyable thing about PSQ?

– The most enjoyable thing has probably been the people and the opportunity to work on something I am really passionate about. Being able to grow together with others from different backgrounds who share the same interest makes the education something special🌟

Has the school met your expectations that you had pre-PSQ?

– Yes, absolutely! The education has lived up to my expectations. It is really only your creativity that sets the limits, so it is lucky that we have such great teachers and tutors who are really committed and help us achieve our goals.

What has been the most valuable learning lesson?

– For me, the best part has been going through the entire process of creating game-ready assets and models. Practicing the entire production chain has given me a much better understanding of the workflow and helped me develop both quality and efficiency 🌸

Besides the educational aspect, what has been good about going to PSQ?

– In addition to the education, there are many activities at the school that we students get involved in and organize. Such as game and movie nights, D&D, barbecue nights, and much more. The school is rarely empty after 5 pm! 🌟

Falun is also a very cozy city with a lot of culture to explore ☺️

Would you recommend others to apply here and go here?

– Yes, absolutely! If you like creating and enjoy games, just go for it. You don't need to have a full understanding of 3D modeling when applying; the most important thing is to be motivated and willing to learn.

Thank you, Alva! Have a lovely summer, and we'll see you in your 2nd year in August! 🌸
